That is such a wonderful article. Clothing is so intimate, and I’m trying to be more mindful of all of my purchases and trying to remember that a real person made and packed them. Even the conditions of warehouses here in the U.S., like for stores like Amazon, are difficult for their employees, but it’s easy to forget about them when you click a button and your stuff arrives at your door two days later.
Yeah; when I worked at a screenprinting factory, I sometimes helped quality control and ship orders. We were being treated just fine, but it was rather boring, dehumanizing work. The hope is that we can make these types of jobs as good as possible while acknowledging that they’re never exactly fun to do.
